How to Recapture Lost Photography Leads and Boost Sales

Lost photography leads and how to get them back + boost your sales | See more at tracylynncoaching.com/blog

Have you had inquiries that seem to disappear, leaving you wondering what you did wrong? I get it. There’s nothing more frustrating than thinking you had a client ready to book, only to have them ghost you. Today, I want to explain what you should do when you realize you’ve lost photography leads and how you can potentially book them anyway.

The Art of Follow-Up

The Right Way to Follow Up After Being Ghosted

One of the most effective strategies to recapture lost photography leads is to follow up one to two times, maximum. A photographer once told me an educator advised her to follow up seven or even ten times. I’m going to ask you not to be that photographer. Excessive follow-up can come across as desperate and annoying. If a business followed up with me that many times, I would block them.

An appropriate amount of follow-up is one to two times. Sometimes, people get busy, read your message, and forget to respond. Here’s a template for a polite follow-up:

Hi [Name],
I hope you had a great weekend. It’s been a few days since we last spoke, and I just wanted to touch base. Do you have any questions about the information I sent over? Would you like to set up a call to chat more if you’re interested? I also have a free guide on prepping for your session, which includes a coupon for booking. Here’s the link [Insert Link]. I’m here to answer any questions you might have and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
[Your Name]

Accepting the Outcome

As photographers and business owners, we must accept that we are not the right fit for every client. Not everyone will book a session just because they reached out. Sometimes, it’s not the right time for them, or you might be more expensive than anticipated. That’s okay. Sometimes, personal life events might make them wait. They may come back when the time is right.

Building Your Email List

Create a Lead Magnet

One of the most important things you can do to recapture lost leads is to get them on your email list. There are two main ways to do this effectively:

  • Offer a Lead Magnet: Create a valuable free resource that you can offer in your initial inquiry email. For example, we offer the “Ultimate Guide to Preparing for Your Boudoir Photo Shoot,” which includes a $100 off coupon for their session. This incentive encourages potential clients on the fence about booking to take the next step.
  • Direct Invitation: Ask if they would like to join your email list. Let them know that you occasionally run sales and that being on your list will ensure they are the first to know about them.

The Ultimate Guide Example

Our lead magnet is the “Ultimate Guide to Preparing for Your Boudoir Photo Shoot.” This guide helps potential clients prepare for their shoot and builds trust and rapport with us. Here’s a breakdown of what our guide includes:

  • $100 Off Coupon: This immediate incentive encourages booking before the code expires.
  • Complete Process Overview: We detail everything from the consultation to the photo shoot, ordering session, and best tips.
  • Outfit Preparation: Advice on what to wear and how to prepare.
  • FAQs: Addressing common concerns and questions that might cause hesitation.
  • Studio Information: More about our studio and what clients can expect.

By providing this guide, we help potential clients feel more comfortable and informed, making them more likely to book with us.

Utilizing Email Marketing

Keep Them Engaged

Once you have these leads on your email list, the next step is to keep them engaged. Sending regular, valuable content will keep your business at the top of their mind. Here are a few strategies:

  • Educational Content: Share tips and advice related to your photography niche.
  • Special Offers: Exclusive discounts for your email subscribers.
  • Behind-the-Scenes: Give a peek into your process or a look at recent shoots.

Take it from Carly:

With the help of being in 6FS, I actually built out a pricing guide where I could see where everything was going-and then two months later, I booked 17 sessions in one weekend!

I love having the guidance in 6FS to help me do this, plus really enjoyed the Facebook group element because I could post when I had a win. I feel much more confident with my pricing now!
