What a year 2022 was! My 2022 did not go quite as planned. If I’m being honest, it’s not been my favorite year in business, but a lot of things have happened in my boudoir studio and my education business… both good and bad.
Maybe the biggest change in 2022 which I can’t wait to share with you is my new boudoir studio and location!
All together, these changes made it possible to work about seven days total all year in my boudoir studio, photographed 52 sessions, and still maintained a sales average of about $2900!
In this episode, I’m breaking down exactly how my 2022 went, what I’ve learned, what I’ll be changing for 2023, and what’s to come for TLC Education.
Why the changes for my boudoir studio?
I knew 2022 was going to be a hectic year from the get go with everything we had planned–a lot of traveling, our wedding, preparing to trade in our camper, and needing some time off in general are just a few things I can name.
For this reason, I intentionally planned my year in my photography business to be a little slow.
With 2022 already jam packed, I decided to make another HUGE change in my photography business. I mean, because why not?
Moving into a new boudoir studio during all of this may seem a little hectic, and it was, but it created new opportunities and realizations within my business.
Rolling with the change
The word change seems to be the definition of my business in 2022 and heading into 2023. Frankly, I’m perfectly ok with that! In this podcast, I share with you a multitude of things I changed, adjusted, or am in the works of changing in 2023.
In order to meet my goals during an already packed year, I knew I had to implement some adjustments and changes to make that happen.
The two changes that I knew would make that happen were increasing my pricing and adding collections. In this episode, I share with you how I implemented these changes and exactly why these were the changes that I knew needed to happen.
The biggest change within my photography business in 2022 was the new boudoir studio and location. Let me say I am beyond excited to share this with you!
A moment of realization
Have you ever had that aha moment in your business or life? That was this year in my boudoir studio and let me tell you, when you know you just know.
I realized that my ideal client is way different now than she was when I started. I discuss who she was and who she is now and why I relate so much to this change.
These moments within your business are crucial to your continued growth. When I realized this “aha moment” I had to update my branding and messaging within my boudoir business and boudoir studio.
My portfolio messaging, adding a video to my website, redoing my email sequence and freebie, adding new blogs specific to my ideal client, and updating my SEO are just a few things that needed to be updated. In this episode, I talk pretty extensively about how and why I did this.
Education
In 2021 I burnt myself out! At one point, I was working with over twenty-eight 1:1 clients. This is not sustainable, and I promised myself I would not let that happen again.
So, in 2022 I was determined to get back to focusing on the things that matter the most to me and truly getting back to my core values.
I’ve put a lot of time and education into TLC Education… and I’ve torn it down so that I can rebuild my business in a way that fits my lifestyle more
I want to support my clients in a way that works better for both of us so that when I’m present my clients get all of me!
What’s to come?
There have been multiple changes within the structure of my business. One of those being my 1:1 pricing. I will be making pricing changes to keep from reaching the burn out point again!
BUT this brings other awesome opportunities for my clients.
I still want to offer my clients the support they need. I am going to be offering other options for clients that are low cost but have actionable information that you can implement as you go..
