030. Six-Figure Photographer Working Less Than 18 Days in 2022

030. Six-Figure Photographer Working Less Than 18 Days in 2022 // Sustainable Freedom with Photography Podcast hosted by Tracy Lynn of Tracy Lynn Coaching and Boudoir by Tracy Lynn

In 2022, I’m on track to be a six-figure photographer while only working 18 days total. This is possible because I’ve built my business with strategy and intention.

Being able to say I am a six-figure photographer and only having to work 18 days has been years in the making. Earlier in the year, while goal setting, I made the decision that I only wanted to be in the studio 6 or 7 times total. Thankfully, this is possible since I don’t have to hold my retoucher’s hand and my scheduling workflow is super streamlined, while my website books sessions for me on autopilot.

This gives me sustainable freedom, which we all know is one of my favorite things, while still making a great salary.

Goal setting to remain a six-figure photographer

Setting goals early in the year sets your business up to be successful from the start. Goals ARE the foundation of your business, and I have stressed this to my clients regularly.

If you’re wanting to be a six-figure photographer, then you have to have a solid foundation for your business and that’s where goal setting comes in.

There is just no getting around it! If you don’t set goals and a strategy to make it happen, it’s impossible to reach them.

What goals did I set for 2022? In this episode, I share with you the three main goals I set for myself so I could be a six-figure photographer for 2022.

Set my schedule

With a solid foundation to my business the next step was scheduling. I’m a big believer in setting your schedule early. By mid 2021, I had set my schedule for 2022.

You may have to make some scheduling adjustments, and that’s ok. After all, it’s your schedule.

Be sure to keep the changes to a minimum if possible. When making changes keep your clients updated and give them LOTS of notice if you do make changes.

What did 2022 look like for me? I will expand on this episode, but let me just share with you that I did take the months of February and March off…

… and I’ll still revenue around $150K – with just my photography business!

When you set goals and plan for them, well anything is possible.

Adjusted my price list to hit these goals

I had to adjust my price list so I was able to hit my average sales goal to be a six-figure photographer while keeping my schedule looking exactly how I wanted it to look.

A good price list directs your client to spend the amount of money you need them to spend without extra pressure from you. In this episode, I also share with you how I adjusted my price list, what I added to my list, and how I had confidence while doing this.

Automation implementation

My business is totally automated, and anything that isn’t automated has a very intentional workflow. With these automations, it’s super easy to be six-figure photographer while only working 18 days in a year!

Over the years, I’ve done this by cutting some time out of the workflow by automating things like my marketing, reminders, client scheduling, and accounting.

I also drop ship albums and print orders directly to my clients instead of studio pick up, which  has cut down on my time in the studio by quite a bit.

If you want to know the ins and outs of what I’ve automated, what I still do, and what my 144 total worked hours in my six-figure photography business actually looks like, then you definitely want to catch this episode.
