How Jessica Hit an $11K Month With the Help of Forever Booked Out

I know that stepping out and going full-time as a boudoir photographer can be pretty intimidating. There’s the marketing, the client experience, the booking, the ordering sessions — and then you have to wear literally every hat in between to make things work. It’s a lot, and it can definitely stop you in your tracks!

But I challenge you to think about what’s on the other side of that fear…

A job you love. Working with people you enjoy, doing something you enjoy. Financial freedom. Freedom to work when you want, where you want. And so much more…

You never know until you try, right?

That’s why I want to introduce you to Jessica, a student from Forever Booked Out.

In this week’s episode of the Sustainable Freedom With Boudoir Photography Podcast, she opens up about her experience inside the program, and how it helped her reach an $11K month.

We’ll talk about how this one leap of faith changed SO MUCH in her boudoir business, and we’ll share more details about what it’s like inside of FBO!

Meet Forever Booked Out Student Jessica Pimental

Jessica Pimental has been a photographer since 2018 and is currently based in Westport, Massachusetts. She has been a long-time listener of the show, and after hearing about my annual Black Friday sale this past November, she decided to take the leap of faith and join Forever Booked Out

Before she joined though, she implemented much of what she learned from the podcast into her time at bridal fairs. The same strategies that helped her land that $11K month back in January!

I know…amazing! Which is exactly why we’re going to get into how she did that, and what her strategy looked like, so you can see for yourself that success is possible.

How Jessica Got Her Start

“So I officially opened shop in 2018. I think like many other photographers, I initially just wanted a good camera to take nice photos of my kids (and of course, my dogs!) because I was still using my phone.

And then I realized I could take pictures of other people and it kind of snowballed from there. I was in a friend’s wedding, and she asked me to take pictures on my phone. I remember that it dawned on me that I could really help others capture memories.

I can take pictures. This is awesome. And then the last thing clicked…I can make money doing this.”

Why Boudoir?

Starting boudoir photography as a side hustle? I’m sure most of us can relate! So naturally, my next question was about how she got into boudoir specifically, and what her first shoot was like.

“It started in 2019, and I guess you could say it was kind of accidental. That first year in business, like many others, I did everything —  weddings and family portraits. And I worked with a lot of people that I knew because word of mouth is pretty strong when you’re just starting out.

So a friend of mine asked if I could take pictures for her soon-to-be husband. We did an outdoor boudoir shoot in my backyard. I was also going to photograph their wedding, so I was able to be involved in that process from beginning to end.

I got to see her come out of her femininity and enjoy being in her element. I got to see her look and feel amazing, and I loved her session and her photos. And then I got to see him open the album. It was full circle, and it was amazing. It felt a lot more fulfilling than other genres of photography!”

How Jessica Brings In Clients Now

As for getting clients, Jessica says that it was mostly word of mouth until recently.

“I didn’t really have an email list in the past. If I did, I probably emailed them like once a quarter. And I used social media more like a business card or a portfolio where I was showing my work. But I wasn’t trying to engage with anyone.

After joining Forever Booked Out though, I completely revamped my website. I made a lot of changes based on your recommendations, actually. After buying the course, I spent every waking hour for like a week straight trying to adjust things. And I did it step-by-step, just like you said.

In addition, I also amped up my in-person work, specifically for the bridal fairs. I went through all of my favorite episodes of your podcast and got my marketing ducks in a row for those events.

So now, all of this combined helps me bring in clients.”

How Jessica Got That $11K Month

“So, the bridal fair was in October, and January was the $11K month. It was definitely the residual from the bridal fair because it was after the holidays, and all the 2024 brides were switching gears from Christmas to thinking about their weddings.

It was my first big month, and just amazing on so many levels. It was nice to make that money after bouncing back from Christmas. But it also just felt so good to see the reward for the hard work I had been putting in for the last three to four months.

And I think turning my website into a higher-converting tool helped. It made it easier for leads to turn into subscribers, then nurture them into customers. It helped a lot.”

How Forever Booked Out Helped Her Get There

I mentioned it earlier, but I got to know Jessica through my program, Forever Booked Out. Here’s what she had to say about it:

“I spent a year or more listening to your podcast and that really solidified your education as being legitimate. And you were very present online, too. I think the number one thing was the very first time I emailed you asking a question, you emailed back in like half an hour. It made me feel like I could trust you because you could help me if I had questions.

All of that combined, I knew that buying your education would be fruitful. But I also think that the points you make are just good business tips in general.

And Forever Booked Out taught me so much. I was really able to dig in and elevate things on the business side. It was pretty impactful.”
